Prohibited Devices
The RBB wireless network is monitored for all activity at all buildings at all times. Each RBB guest, staff member, and student is responsible for all content accessed while on the RBB wireless network.
There are a wide variety of devices that are brought into the schools and connected to the wireless network. Some are not allowed. The following is a list of prohibited items. This list is subject to changes as more devices are available and at the discretion of the Corporation Technology Department.
- Smart Devices such as but not limited to
- Amazon Alexa
- Amazon Echo
- Amazon Echo Dot
- Amazon Echo Show
- Google Nest Audio
- Google Nest Mini
- Google Home
- Any unattended voice controlled assistive device.
We realize that smartphones have built in voice assistants. These are allowed since they are usually password and or bio-metric protected and respond to the owners voice only.
- WiFi enabled appliances
- Air Filtration Units
- Smart refrigerators
- Smart washing and drying machines
Personal Device Limitations
Staff are allowed to bring their personal smartphones, tablets, and laptops and connect them to RBB-Staff WiFi. If for any reason they're not compatible with the network's configuration, the Corporation Technology Department is under no obligation to provide support to the device if that staff member has been issued an device capable of fulfilling the requirements of their position at RBB Schools. Here are some of those limitations you may experience.
- Lack of 2.4ghz WiFi - Some older WiFi enabled devices cannot connect to our current 5ghz network. While 2.4ghz is available in some areas, we cannot enable it everywhere.

Connecting Android Phones to WiFi
Changes to the Android OS required extra network security for WPA2 Enterprise WiFi networks. This just means there are a few more steps to connect to RBB-Staff WiFi with and Android phone. Please follow these instructions to get connected.
- Open settings
- Tap on connections
- Tap on WiFi
- Tap on RBB-Staff
- For EAP method select PEAP
- For Identity, type your network username
- For Password, type your network password
- For CA certificate, select Use system certificates
- If there is a field for Anonymous identity, make sure to clear out any text.
- For domain, type nps1.rbbschools.net
- Tap connect and you're good to go
You phone will now connect to RBB-Staff WiFi wherever it is broadcasted on campus.
